My works combine visual images with concepts and ideas, producing paintings that create connections through symbols, color, and sometimes jarring combinations of representations. The work combines plant forms, landscape and other forms from nature with iconography, objects and sacred symbols from various world cultures to weave a narrative that is oblique, often personal and sometimes political or issue-oriented. Work often includes text and poetry, or is in response to language in various forms, using English, Gaelic, French, Spanish, and Hebrew. Each series addresses a different area of concern or interest, using a combination of text, symbolism and image to create images rich in color, detail and idea.

My current series is the Fragility of the Sacred, looking at how we often neglect that which we claim is sacred in our lives; the works include environmental fragility, emotional fragility, physical fragility, and the fragility of our lives against a society of violence and terror.
